Great device, although I haven’t used it extensively yet. It was easy to set up. To allow other laptops to access the printer they need to install the Lexmark software, which I didn’t expect, but it installs quickly and then access is very fast. I tested out the copy and scan options, but only to play with, I haven’t used them yet. I have no idea on ink consumption, only having the printer for a couple of weeks. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase and Amazon delivered this very, very fast.
the printer is very fast printing good quality and easy to set up, the downside is the ink replacement is expensive the standard ink did not seem to last very long and that was without printing any photo’s i just ordered the xl cartridges which are suppose to give me 3 times the page prints hopefully it is worth the high cost of the ink replacement. but on closing it is a good printer with easy set up.
Printer was as good as advertised and delivered promptly. Unfortunately the spare ink cartridges ordered at the same time were not shipped with the printer but each shipped individually. Why would they ship them separately and before the printer???
I’ve had Canon and HP printers, so I went with this model because of good reviews. It was very easy to setup and install, and the wifi setup was also very simple. Scanning wirelessly worked well too, you can choose what program to import it to through the printer. However, I went to print 4×6 photos on semi-matte paper, and after 2 prints, it started jamming. 3 jams in a row, not able to print. Also no way to keep feeding the printer – or open up the back; so it took about 15 minutes with tweezers each time. This last time in pulling up the sheet, a plastic part broke off, so now I’m returning it. What a hassle.
I’ve bought 6 of these units now. They get consistent heavy use and hold up fairly well considering. Will continue to buy them. They last me about 3 years before they die. This isn’t bad for the abuse we put them through. The setup programming is a real chore and I have to re-learn the process every time I set up a new one.
I PURCHASED THIS PRINTER BECAUSE THE WORK HORSE I HAD (IDENTICAL PRINTER) DIED AFTER 15 YEARS OF HARD USE. I EXPECT THIS ONE TO LAST EVERY BIT AS LONG.
I can not yet rate this item. The web site suggested ordering a usb cable to go with the printer so I ordered that. When I received the printer there was no usb port. So I ordered a different cable to go from the 25 pin port on the printer to the computer’s usb port. I ordered this on May 17th and am still waiting for Amazon to ship it. They say that it may arrive around June 9- 18th. I think that this is quite the wait for a printer cable. I will rate this product when I can actually use it..
This printer is the idea printer for our business. Virtually does everything we need.
These Lexmark forms printers are getting to be hard to find and expensive. Back in the early ’90s these were known as IBM Proprinters and sold for a couple hundred bucks in a 24 pin.Anyone who is using multi-part paper to print forms still needs a good forms printer and these units are tanks! I’ve owned about 8 of them over the years and worn out the print heads (irreplaceable for the most part since parts are scarce and cost nearly as much as the whole unit).Lexmark is still making these new units but since demand has segued to ink and laser the price has increased dramatically. Still the same old workhorse with push and pull tractor feed that will handle up to 7 (yes seven) part forms.
Though the Amazon product description for this printer lists compatibility with OS X, be aware that according to Epson tech support, that compatibility is limited to OS X version 1.0 only. It will not work with any subsequent version (as this is being written the current OS X version is 10.4.9). Again according to Epson tech support, there are no plans to offer a printer driver for any OS X version beyond ver. 1.0.
The info was not clear as to the limitations of this printer. It accepts single sheet feeds only and not stacks and this is not realistically implemented on the printer. It is only suited for tractor feed paper.Networking is problematic and required the services of a computer technician who struggled for four hours to get it working. The printer as a hardware device seems OK, but the software is sub par. Also, in a mixed Mac-PC environment, it makes what is already a difficult situation, even more difficult to implement if you want one printer for the network.
