Don’t purchase this device if you have Windows 7. It will not capture the audio correctly. The volume level is too low and there are no adjustments. Also there are hiccups in the audio/video sync.
How do you delete scenes in Pinnacle Studio 12?
I am starting my first quick scoping montage on MW2 and am running out of hard drive space. I usually take Pinnacle Engraving a bout a 10 minute video each time and use on average 2, 10 second scenes. How do i use the 20 seconds of footage on my video and delete the other 9:40 on my computer? I use Pinnacle Studio 12.1 the normal version. I considered buying an external hard drive but that would be to expensive. Please Help?

I have to agree with the other 1 star user. This device falls very short on picture quality in all formats. The Pinnacle software that comes with this hardware is weak at best. I’m not saying it won’t work. What I’m saying is it is very unstable and takes several attempts to get what you want. The worst part about each attempt is it may fail after 25 minutes into the video.I have 3GB of 600Mhz RAM and a 256MB video card so it can’t be starving for resources. I would have returned it but I never got around to it. I’ll be yanking my old video capture card and using it. I would recommend getting a capture card and using it for a better quality of video. My old capture card was very cheap but compared to this hardware it is night and day different. If you have bad vision and everything is blurry already this may be the device for you!!!! If they are precious memories your looking to backup then steer clear of this device.
this is tough for me to review as I haven’t used any hardware/software like it. with that said, I found it easy to use (keep in mind I’m 37 and not real computer literate). most of the stuff I did was VCR to DVD and the quality was only good – likely due to the old tape and cheap VCR player. I’d buy it again.
If you’re looking for something to capture analog video, this is it. I haven’t tried the software, but the unit works wonderfully. It captures VCR/ DVD whatever. It is analog, not digital, but works wonderfully. Would definitely buy one again. Software looks decent too.
I have been working with this product for months and have only gotten lousy video captures from it from several formats — VHS, DVD, and laserdisc. This is not the first capture device I’ve used; I was very happy with my WinTV PVR until Mr. Bill Gates and his Windows Vista OS rendered that obsolete; so I have plenty of experience with such equipment. Yet after all this time and after talking to half of India and finding no workable setting or form of input, I am done with this rotten waste of money. One more item for the Vista scrapheap.
I use this with “EyeTV 3″ software (on a Mac). It’s wonderful!!!! If you’ve read all of the bad reviews its the Pinnacle software that stinks. Try using Pinnacles hardware with other software. You can download “EyeTV’s” software from their web sight. I hope this helps (at least Mac users). When I used The Pinnacle software on my PC (1.2GHz Proc, 1 MB Ram) It worked poorly.
Very Easy to use, versitile, worth the money. Signal comes in clear and included antenna is very handy.
The tv tuner works fairly well but the software is total junk. I wouldn’t buy this thing again for $10 if I had to use the same software. The recordings look horrible and the program is really glitchy. It takes forever to load and sometimes records with no sound. Don’t but this. 4
While the specs indicate it can receive digital cable, it does not. This is the 800e model – it picks up HD digital TV over the antenna, but can only receive analog cable through the coax input cable. Since most cable providers are going digital, very few analog stations will be accessible through cable with this device. Unfortunately, it is a product whose time has passed. If all you need is to pick up the over-the-air HD signals, then this product should work fine for you. If you need to receive digital channels through your cable, you will need the 801e model. Be forewarned though – Windows Media Center only receives analog channels. You will have to upgrade to Windows 7 for Media Center to be updated to pick up digital cable channels.
For the price, it is a great deal. The tuner works fine. The only complaint that I have is that the software that it comes with to view TV is a little glitchy and slow. For example, sometimes when you shrink the size of the window, you won’t be able to drag the window to a different position. If stuff like this bothers you, I think there are other programs out there that can use this tuner (like Windows Media Center). Other than that, I am very happy with my purchase.
Software is not ready for windows 7. Downloaded latest from the Pinnacle site. A visit to the Pinnacle support site before I purchased would have been a good idea. Others report similar crashes with this, and no resolution other than wait for updated Pinnacle TVCenter Pro software. The good news is that if you use just the Vista drivers and delete the Pinnacle TVCenter Pro software, Windows Media Player works well with the device itself. Even just using the included antenna, it picked up all my local channels, as well as some quite far away. The remote is useless without the Pinnacle TVCenter software. Hopefully Pinnacle will update the software so the whole package works. Until then this is a 1 star item…UPDATE – 7 December 2009: Pinnacle support does not even acknowledge my e-mailed request for assistance. Prior purchases of Pinnacle products required zero interaction with support. I see they have updated software for non-US products, so maybe we will get a Win7 version in the US soon.
This is without a doubt the worst and most buggy piece of hardware I have ever owned. 1/2 the time it just doesnt work, it will rarely scan for channels, often freezes when changing channels, is mostly completely useless. If youre thinking of using your laptop as a portable TV, even if it has a fast processor and plenty of ram this is NOT the device to try. You will end up angry and frustrated just as I have.
I saw this item for sale (almost 1/2 price) during Black Friday last year and didn’t see great reviews on it so decided against purchasing it since I didn’t need another gadget. My brother had one and loved it so he ran out and bought another one and gave it to me, so why not use it since it’s a gift? Well, I’m pretty amazed that I was able to get about 50 channels in Southern California and it comes in great, I’ve tried it at home and in the office on the second floor (with no windows). I also have recorded a couple of shows for playback. This tuner picks up better than the indoor antenna I have hooked up to my tv in my bedroom, I get the stations consistently whereas the Philips indoor antenna in my bedroom goes in and out and I have to readjust it all the time. The software is a bit clunky, I can’t run it very well without having my laptop plugged in, on battery it doesn’t seem to get enough power (so you’re better off using this on a computer that has processing power, mine is a little Asus netbook that I’m using it on). I think if you’re a big TV watcher then this product is worth the purchase. I’m not a TV person but it’s definitely a fun item to have during long rides or lunch hour at work.
This review refers to using the product with Windows Vista. This product is a total waste of one`s time.Waste of hard drive space.Installs O.K..Doesn`t sense being connected.Won`t even detect a DVD drive within computer.A person might as well flush $35.00 down the toilet. This written by an individual that has been doingbusiness online and hand writing web sites since 1993.I`m not a dummy when it comes to computers. Also Diamond`s support for this item is lacking,to say the least.
